2 Things To Do To Wait Safely For Your Tow Truck

Posted on

If you are stuck on the side of the road waiting for your car to get towed, then you want to make sure that you are as safe as possible. Getting your car towed isn't worth the risk of you getting hurt. There are several things that you can do to wait.

Get Away From the Car

One of the things that you can do is to leave your car. You don't have to go very far, just to the side of the road, if you can. You only want to do that if you can be out of the reach of other cars and if the weather is cooperative. If it very cold or raining, you might be more at risk from the weather than you might be from other causes. When you leave your car, you don't want to go too far, because you want to be around when the tow truck driver gets to your car to tow it.

Alert Other Motorists

Another thing  to do when it comes to staying safe while you are waiting for your tow truck driver to come to get you is to make sure that the other drivers know that you are out there. There are a lot of things that you can do to alert those other motorists, such as makingsure that you have your hazard lights on. The color and the flashing will catch the other drivers' eyes and pull their attention to your car.

You can also do things like tie pieces of material on your antenna or hang it out your window. The movement of the sheet will alert the drivers to the fact that there is something on the side of the road. You may also want to keep an automotive emergency kit in your trunk. Those kits usually have something like flares and bright orange triangles that are made out of reflective material. When you break down at the side of the road, you can put the flare and the triangles out some distance behind your car. That will allow drivers to get some warning about you and your car for some distance, which will give them plenty of time to move so that they don't come too close to you.

If your car has broken down on the side of the road, you want to get a tow truck to come help you. Make sure that you are as safe as possible while you are waiting. Contact a service, like Aces Roadside Towing, for more help.
